"And we wanted to maintain the sound we got on the Yeah! record. Because that was recorded really quick. Because obviously they were cover songs. The songs were already written. There were songs on Yeah! that we had to readdress from a production point of view, because we didn't want to orchestrate them like the originals. But you know, the guts of that record was pretty straightforward. It was like painting by numbers. We were playing songs that were ingrained in our DNA that we had known for 30 or 40 years. And so with this record, we wanted to keep the same principle. We wanted it to be a bit more rough around the edges. We didn't want to go for too polished a sound. As long as the songs were as strong as we felt they could be, we didn't want to spend too much time on the recording process."
Can you mention any song titles at all?
"Yeah, let's see if I can remember them. The easier once to remember are certainly the ones I brought in. There's one called 'Only The Good Die Young', 'Cruise Control', 'Give It Away'. There's a song called 'Hallucination'. What other song titles do we have? 'Bad Actress' and 'Love'."
