Very longtime HardRadio friends METALLICA are donating $40K to Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank through their foundation All Within My Hands (AWMH). These much-needed funds will aid the organization's efforts to feed Canadians amid the city's worsening hunger crisis. "We want to wholeheartedly thank the members of Metallica for this incredibly generous donation," says Neil Hetherington, CEO, Daily Bread Food Bank. "Right now, far too many are struggling, and these funds will help support food bank clients as the hunger crisis in our city reaches an all-time high. This gift means even more considering the band has a history of donating to the Daily Bread cause." Toronto is seeing an unprecedented rise in food insecurity rates, so much so that in December the city declared the issue a state of emergency. According to the 2024 Who's Hungry report more than one in 10 people in Toronto are relying on food banks — twice as many as just two years prior.
Commemorate MOTORHEAD DAY on Thursday, May 8, at Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood, CA. "We're celebrating the 50th anniversary of Motorhead as Lemmy would have wanted, at Rainbow Bar & Grill in West Hollywood. The event, open to all, will have exclusive merch, giveaways, a performance by Murder One and more! Join us from 6 PM till late!" Back in November 2016, Rainbow Bar & Grill dedicated its patio to Lemmy and re-named it "Lemmy's Lounge." It was a fitting gesture from the Rainbow, as when Lemmy wasn't touring or recording, the majority of his waking hours were spent on that patio. There was already a life-size bronze statue immortalizing Lemmy at the Rainbow, which attracts fans from all over the world, and Lemmy's Lounge allows hardcore fans and casual patrons alike to sample the wares and atmosphere that Lemmy loved so much. In April 2024 the ashes of Lemmy Kilmister were enshrined at the Rainbow.
