Primal Fear bassist, co-founder, and very longtime HardRadio friend MAT SINNER has checked in with the following update: "Five years ago, I played my last show with Alice Cooper in Berlin (Rock Meets Classic). Shortly after this show I was declared dead, but doctors brought me back to life. As I was lying paralyzed in my bed, one of my 3 targets was that one day I want to be back rocking on a stage again. Now, 5 years later I'm 75% recovered, 5 years sober, and I will play a show with my beloved Primal Fear again on Friday evening, supported by some of the best guys I can imagine. Don't expect me jumping around like a young guy, but for sure I will give 200%. And can you imagine my feelings when we will play our classic songs again? Keep your fingers crossed and have a great new week." Sinner suffered an extreme adverse reaction to the COVID-19 vaccination in 2021 and received treatment for eight months at various hospitals. This forced the cancellation of shows planned for 2021 and 2022, and when Primal Fear did surface it was with Alex Jansen as Sinner's temporary replacement.
Original Possessed guitarist BRIAN MONTANA - who performed on the band's 1984 demo Death Metal but left the group later that year, has been killed in a stand-off with police in South San Francisco. He was 60. The incident occurred around 6 PM on April 28, when officers responded to a call on Arroyo Drive. According to a press release from the South San Francisco Police Department, the shooting suspect, Brian Montana, "fired at officers from different locations within the driveway while seeking cover and concealment using both vehicles in the driveway and landscaping." Two officers fired their weapons, leaving Montana dead at the scene. District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Montana became upset over his neighbor's tree branches and leaves spilling into his yard. The altercation escalated with the suspect shooting multiple weapons, including a handgun, shotgun and rifle.
