The new CBC September 23 documentary NEIL PEART: NO ONE'S DISCIPLE documents the late Canadian musician's tough start as a young artist, followed by his meteoric rise. Intimate heart-to-hearts between Rush members Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, alongside the reflections of other acclaimed drummers, open a window into one of rock's most enigmatic percussionists. "I think it matters for me to play better all the time, and to play my best all the time, to keep it fresh and changing. It's kind of my responsibility, I see it, as a drummer," the late Peart says in an archival interview featured in the film.

Longtime HardRadio friend JOAN JETT has cancelled two live dates in September so that the rock legend can heal following orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae. Joan's social media was updated yesterday with the following message: "Following a recent injury, Joan Jett has undergone orthopedic surgery on a fractured vertebrae and will begin the necessary healing process. In close consultation with her doctors, Joan will not be able to perform at her forthcoming September scheduled shows in Costa Mesa, CA on September 5th and in Louisville, KY on September 24th."

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and HardRadio friend GLENN HUGHES has announced his retirement from touring and live performances. Glenn will have to undergo heart surgery and has made the difficult decision to step back from live performances for the foreseeable future. Glenn's statement reads: "This past year, I've had some health issues. The results from numerous MRIs, CT scans, and an echocardiogram have alerted my medical team, that I need another open-heart surgery. I really have no option and no choice as health is my number one priority. Grateful to have been chosen with a life full with the gift of music... Thank you for walking beside me."
