GARY "ANGRY" ANDERSON the legendary frontman of Australian rockers ROSE TATTOO, has passed away at 79 years of age. Anderson also appeared in the film Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome as Ironbar Bassey, henchman for Tina Turner's character, Aunty Entity. Rose Tattoo shared the news of their leader's passing via social media, writing, "It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gary "Angry" Anderson on the eve of Monday 21 September 2026, surrounded by his loved ones here in Australia. Angry was a devoted father, and much-loved member of his friends, bandmates and the wider music and entertainment community. His loss will be deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him both here in Australia and overseas."
Just a week after reports came in that former Max Webster drummer Gary McCracken had passed away on September 15 at 75, we've now learned that PYE DUBOIS (real name Paul Phillip Woods), the Canadian lyricist and poet known for his work with Rush and Max Webster, and later with Max Webster frontman, Kim Mitchell, has died at 77. The news was revealed via an obituary from the Smith Funeral Home & Family Centre in Sarnia, Ontario, written by Dubois' brother. Dubois wrote lyrics for each of Max Webster's albums, and has lyric-writing credits on several Rush songs, most notably "Tom Sawyer." He also wrote the poem "There Is A Lake Between Sun And Moon", which inspired Rush to write many of the lyrics for the album Counterparts, including a song of the same name for which Dubois received co-writing credit. He is also credited as a co-writer on the Rush songs "Force Ten" and "Test for Echo."
The 2027 edition of Sweden's Time To Rock festival is scheduled for July 9-12, in Knislinge, Sweden. The four-day rock and metal event features multiple stages and roughly 50 performing acts. Organizers have confirmed the addition of ATOMIC ROOSTER - the British rock band originally formed by members of The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. Formed in 1969 by keyboardist Vincent Crane, Atomic Rooster emerged from the same fertile musical landscape that nurtured some of the biggest names in progressive rock, hard rock, and heavy metal.
