...as quoted in the most recent BW&BK:

"The next record we're doing is goin to be a brutal one, the most brutal one yet...that's where my head went after this whole terrorist thing." He described how the writing process is collaborative with Gene Hoglan now, and "So I started showing him all these riffs. They were almost war-like. Really, really dark and super, super intense battle songs. Power metal for the year 3000, black metal over baroque music. Real classical sounding things set to the most searing production, just insane."

Heh heh...battle songs. Sounds like Devin crossed with Bal-Sagoth. I can't freakin' wait.

I'll reserve judgment til I hear it - too many bands have said, "This is our heaviest/best/bluesiest/etc. album yet, only to crank out crap.

My hopes are high, though...

True, but most of the bands who say it and ultimately turn out crap are the ones running away from disappointing sales for albums taking unpopular directions - i.e. they're doing it out of desperation, not as a creative outlet. Devin (and Nevermore, who said much the same thing) is not in that position.
